Assemblymember Alvarez Chaired the First Joint Legislative Audit Committee Meeting of the 2023-2024 Session

Sacramento, California – Yesterday, Assemblymember David Alvarez (D-80th District) chaired the first Joint Legislative Audit Committee hearing of the 2023-2024 session. For the first meeting of this session, the committee reviewed 11 proposed audits and approved all of them unanimously with bi-partisan support. The California State Auditor will now execute these approved audits.

“It is an honor to Chair this important committee. I want to thank my colleagues and the committee staff for their work,” said Assemblymember Alvarez. “The audits approved by JLAC help address performance and funding standards across our state. These audits help members of the Legislature and California residents understand if programs are functioning properly or need changes.”

The Joint Committee on Legislative Audit’s is charged with reviewing and addressing audit requests from California State Senate or State Assembly members. The committee can review both performance and financial audit requests.

The 80th Assembly District includes the communities of Barrio Logan, Logan Heights, Sherman Heights, Bonita, Lincoln Acres, Otay Mesa and San Ysidro, along with the cities of Chula Vista, National City and Imperial Beach.
