Assemblymember Alvarez in support of AJR 23

(SACRAMENTO, CA) –Today,Assemblymember David Alvarez (D-San Diego), voted in favor of AJR 23 (Boerner Horvath/Garcia), a resolution that commemorates the 50th anniversary of the enactment of Title IX. Title IX prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government.

“I am proud to support this resolution as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the enactment of Title IX.

Title IX stands as a beacon for equal access and has opened the door for millions of women to attend college, play sports and provide opportunities they deserve since its passage in 1972.

The education equity guaranteed in Title IX does not solely apply to women; it protects everyone from sex-based discrimination, regardless of gender identity or gender expression.

We will continue to work together to achieve the goals set by Title IX.”
