Get Lead OUT of School Drinking Water

Thursday, February 23, 2017

(Sacramento) – Assemblywomen Blanca E. Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) and Lorena Gonzalez-Fletcher (D-San Diego) were joined by Cal-PIRG Public Health Advocate Jason Pfeille and pediatrician Dr. Lauren Gambill for a news conference at the State Capitol to discuss a new report showing “pervasive lead contamination in school’s drinking water” and legislation (AB 885 and AB 746) they have authored to address the problem. “Schools should be safe places for our kids to grow and learn, but California is failing to protect our kids from lead in drinking water,” said Assemblywoman Rubio. “Assembly Bill 885 will require certified filters to remove lead at every tap in schools used for drinking or cooking.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
