Trump's Decision to Reduce Birth-Control Coverage Is "Just Plain Stupid," Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher Says

Friday, October 6, 2017

SAN DIEGO – (Friday, October 6, 2017) – California State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) made the following statement following President Trump's decision today to reduce access to birth-control coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

"The Trump administration's assault on women gets worse by the day. Making it harder for women get birth control is not just mean-spirited but just plain stupid. The number of unwanted pregnancies will increase. The number of abortions will increase. All because Trump wants to appeal to his base and couldn't care less who he hurts in the process. It's sad that, in this day and age, we need to remind our president that women sometimes have sex for reasons other than procreation. And the best way to prevent unintended pregnancies is making sure birth control is affordable, accessible and widely available."
