SACRAMENTO – (Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020) – Today, California State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) issued the following statement after Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health revised statewide public health guidelines to allow for public playgrounds to remain open:

“Every parent knows how important playgrounds are for our youngest Californians,” Assemblywoman Gonzalez said. “A huge thank you to Governor Newsom for hearing our collective concern and rethinking how we can open play structures for our kids.”

On Friday, Dec. 4, Gonzalez and a dozen of her legislative colleagues wrote a letter to the governor to respectfully urge he reconsider the latest Regional Stay at Home Order’s closure of public outdoor playgrounds.
