Minimizing Cuts to Resources, Investing in Childcare, and Looking Out for Immigrant Families

SACRAMENTO – (Monday, June 15, 2020) – California State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) released the following statement today after the Legislature passed and sent to the governor its 2020-21 State Budget:

“I was proud to cast my vote today for a budget that would protect jobs and minimize cuts to public services that are essential to our economic recovery—including to childcare programs, In-Home Supportive Services, and K-14 education. This budget reflects California’s values and looks out for the immigrant families who live and work among us, but were shamefully left without a safety net by the federal government. Our historic expansion of the California Earned Income Tax Credit to all eligible families with children younger than six, including undocumented residents, will help provide much needed relief to working families across the state. In these tough times, this is a fair budget.”
