Assemblywoman Gonzalez Issues Statement on Extended Housing Protections for California Tenants

Thursday, January 28, 2021

SACRAMENTO – (Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021) – Today, California State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) issued the following statement after the State Assembly voted to extend protections that will ensure tenants do not lose their homes if they are struggling financially due to COVID-19:

“Today, I voted in support of Senate Bill 91 because our constituents need eviction relief now. Too many families in my district are hanging on by a thread and facing a mountain of crushing debt that has been piling up since the start of the pandemic,” Assemblywoman Gonzalez said. “This bill is a temporary solution that does not go far enough. But, today’s vote will ensure we keep as many families housed as possible and protects against Covid-related evictions through June, while providing rental assistance to tenants and small landlords.”
