SACRAMENTO – (Wed., May 30 , 2019) – Amid growing awareness of worldwide environmental devastation and health problems wrought by plastic and non-recycled trash, the California State Assembly has approved first-of-its-kind legislation by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego)to dramatically reduce plastic and packaging waste and jumpstart the in-state clean recycling economy.

Assemblywoman Gonzalez’s Legislation to Protect Workers from Misclassification Heads to Senate

SACRAMENTO – (Wed., May 29, 2019) – The California State Assembly voted today to pass legislation authored by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) to codify the California Supreme Court’s Dynamex decision and protect workers from being misclassified as independent contractors. The vote was 55 to 11.

SACRAMENTO – (Thurs., May 23, 2019) – A package of legislation championed by California State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) to provide a basic level of support for working women passed the State Assembly this week. The package that now heads to the State Senate includes bills to prevent sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace and to make paid family leave within reach of more women.
